Dragon Dance Theatre’s 2003 Pan American Puppetry Arts Institute is writing to acknowledge the assistance and participation of the following individuals and organizations and to thank each and every one of you for the energy and creativity that you put into this event which made it the cultural exchange and creative artistic response to our times that it was......
As we review the summers activities we want to thank you all for your spirit, your creativity, your authentic, heart felt and beautiful statements, moments, dances, riffs, images sequences, memories, sharings, jokes, wordplays, slap sticks, ideas, photos, hugs, tears, anger, love, frustrations, anxieties, and forceful live performances...that made 2003 a memorable summer of speaking out on the War in Iraq and the history of oil in America. Speaking out on the individual in folklore and his ethical struggles in life with power, love, death, and the devil. Speaking out in celebration of who we are in the Americas, as Rubin Blades says, “Everyone who is born in America is an American.” and finally expressing ourselves in a serious mytho-drama about colonialism’s violence, the enduring strength of family, border crossing and suicide, and migration, the aftermath of the wars of the Americas that have gone on since Teddy Roosevelt seized Panama, in 1899...
